How retailers can quickly view all files shared by a brand
April 10, 2024
Your Shop Local Store has a new feature: You can now view all files shared by a brand on one page. The new "Files" link on a brand's Home (Collections) page leads to all of the brand's files in the File Sharing Library.
In the example shown, we see a retailer Synced with William Yeoward.
On William Yeoward's Home page, the retailer can see a "Files" link.
When the retailer clicks the "Files" link, they are taken to the files shared by William
How to view key performance statistics to determine how Shop Local is helping your business.
September 11, 2023
Your Shop Local Store has a new feature: We've added a new Performance Statistics page to your account. This page makes it easier to access your account's stats.
Previously, this page was titled "How Shop Local is Helping My Business?" Now, the page is titled "My Account's Performance Statistics."
For Retailers, the stats displayed on the Performance Statistics page include:
A medium coffee at McDonald’s is $1.99. When a brand syncs with a retailer on Shop Local, it costs the brand $1.40 per month.
For $1.40, we do these seven things for our brand partner:
We sync an unlimited number of the brand’s products to the retailer's Shop Local Store. All updates, including price changes and new introduction launches, happen in real time. The retailer never has to click “download”
In her new book ‘Quit,' Annie Duke shares that the best poker players only play 25% of the hands they are dealt, whereas others play 50%. Ms. Duke talks with Stewart Butterfield, the founder of a few startups, most recently Slack (which is an acronym, which I didn’t know). Slack wouldn’t have been born if Mr. Butterfield didn’t drop a video game company to start Slack. Likewise for Twitter which was born out of the failed blogging company Odeo. Ms. Duke's lesson: winners ...

Businesses like Walmart, Disney, and Discovery are bundling services and adding the “+” suffix to denote them (e.g. Disney+, Discovery+, W+, etc.). In a recent article in RetailDive, we learn that Walmart is giving its customers free, six-month trial Spotify accounts. I think W+ bundling services is smart. Last week, I compared running a gym to offering software. I spoke about bundling services with things that people like to increase their usage, such as work ...

Relying on file-sharing services like Dropbox to sell products often costs stores an extra $750 per brand and hurts sales
I work with 900 retailers who tell me they are drowning in a sea of Dropbox folders containing Excel files and product images. What can we do about this? First, let’s review what’s happening: When a brand wants to share products with a store, it emails the store a link from Dropbox or a similar file-sharing service. A store may receive five to ten Dropbox links...

Reports suggest that 50% of purchases start on Amazon.com, and Amazon wants to keep it this way. Yet, businesses and merchants increasingly want to sell their products via their own DTC (direct to consumer) site, retailers' websites, Facebook, Instagram, and more. Due to this, Shopify, which powers many DTC and retailer websites, is a growing thorn in Amazon's dominance of retail. Shopify reportedly helps power more than 30% of online U.S. retail sales.
Your Bridge now helps you share files more easily. You can easily load PDFs, Excel files, price lists, and more via your Bridge Library. Your business friends will see your files on their Dashboard, as well as in their respective Library.
In the example shown, Babcock Gifts, the premier gift shop of Tennessee, can view files from Mary Jurek, DeVine Corporation, Badash, Casafina, and BIA Cordon Bleu.
When viewing a file on the Dashboard, you can like it, save it, or download it. You can ...

Do you think that Dropbox is free? I thought so too until my 'free' account filled up and Dropbox wants me to pay $16/month--and $20/month if I want a 'team' account.
Dropbox's pricing page is a doctoral lesson in how to charge customers for oxygen.

How products ‘break’ when shared digitally between suppliers and retailers
1. These vases represent a supplier’s original product data. The supplier has products images matched up to product descriptions with dimensions, care & usage, etc. These pieces of data are all embedded with each other and give an accurate, complete view of the products.
2. The supplier prepares to share its product with stores. To do this, the supplier has to break the data up into Excel and Dropbox files.
What did manufacturer Lynn Chase do when it needed to share lots of large image files with us? It just loaded them to Bridge Library. Simple. Lynn Chase didn't need to remember new logins and passwords for Dropbox, etc. Bonus: Library offers more storage then other file sharing services like DropBox.
